One day trek to erg chegaga is a  half a day drive through the draa valley stunning landscape and a one  night stay at the  camp combined with a camel ride  experience around  of erg chegaga  where you will enjoy the beauty of the desert culminating at Morocco’s highest sand dunes  . You will be driven through a variety of desertificated landscapes.  All through the trip you will have the chance to stop in different areas for refreshment and photography and of course to learn about the terrain and the nomads.

the trek outline:

Generally the trek is made to drive you through the mhamid  Sahara  to  spend one night at the standard camp  at erg chegaga .

Take you through a variety of landscapes with stops in different areas where we will break for tea and lunch, ending at a portable camping spot in at Erg Chegaga where you will stay overnight.

Early in the morning, we will collect you from our camp and depart.
The drive to reach the camp at Erg Chegaga requires 1:30 to 2:00  hours depending on the stops we will make on the way. This off road journey is in itself a desert safari experience where you will enjoy a variety of wild and beautiful desert landscapes.

All through the trip you will have the chance to stop at different areas for refreshment and photography and, of course, to learn more about the terrain and the nomads.

Draa Valley
We start by heading through the Draa Valley towards Lbour, where we will be exposed to a  beautiful view of the Bani mountains. Lbour region is a collection of wild and lush desert valleys where you will have the chance to see camel and goat herders.

Right after reaching Lbour,  we will stop to walk a while and to see the wild camels who graze here. Then we head on to a long rocky plain to reach the hamada of Draa until we stop at the panoramic view of the Thirsty Valley and here, you can climb the hill to enjoy the view of a huge sandy desert area full of tamarisk trees.

Secret Oasis
Next, we will head to the secret oasis of Oum Laalag where you will be treated to a delicious lunch at the palm groves (in winter we program lunch at the camp) and a visit to a nomadic family to discover their tents and way of living.

Erg Chegaga
After enjoying the beauty of the secret oasis, your jeep will take you to the endless horizon of the Erg Chegaga dunes where you will finally reach your camp in the middle of golden dunes where you will enjoy Moroccan tea and snacks.

Here you can relax and soak in the stunning beauty of this spectacular area, or perhaps explore a bit further on foot.
By the time you got enough rest from the drive at your camp, Another journey to sail inside the dunes on camel back is waiting for you . At this part you will have a camel ride all around the dunes. Until sunset.  The camel ride can last as much as you can.

At the end of the day you will have the chance to enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the dune horizon and a delicious dinner by the camp fire.
.After you finish your dinner ,you can enjoy the setting beside the campfire and the shining stars of the sahara desert.

note: the one night at Erg Chegaga is the best alternative for those who want to  spend the night at a camp provided with enjoy the most famous dune in Morocco.
